Dalmatian Rescue, Inc., Receives Donation of 2500 Pounds of Holistic Pet Food

Monday, January 14, 2008 Inspired by the Pet Protection Foundation of BocaDog Magazine, Inc., Barbara and Howard Ratner, the proprietors of Holistic Pet Cuisine Market™ and Will Post, CEO of LIFE4K9 Pet Food Corporation, have donated over one ton of food to Dalmatian Rescue, Inc. Presentation of the food was made on Sunday, January 13, 2008, at the Ratner’s Holistic Pet Cuisine Market on Clint Moore Road in Boca Raton.

The Founder and Director of Dalmatian Rescue, Pati and Mark Dane, received the food donation, accompanied by long-term volunteers Michael McKinzey and his daughter Taylor, along with two canine representatives, Madeline and Helen. Both dogs are also representative of why Dalmatian Rescue exists. Madeline is an unacceptable color in pedigree circles, liver-spotted and white, and Helen is deaf. McKinzey took great pride in demonstrating Helen’s training and response to hand signals.

Penny Paine, managing editor of BocaDog Magazine and a board member of the Foundation, introduced Dalmatian Rescue to the Ratners. She explained, “The rescue was chosen to receive the donation, not least because the breed is particularly prone to food allergies. The non-profit, no-kill foster network has been saving Dalmatians from across the nation for 15 years and, at any one time, has a high number of dogs that need to be fed.”

Pati Dane reported the figures, currently at a low of 38, which includes 25 dogs in the organization’s Care For Life/Extended Care program. “I am ecstatic,” Dane confirmed. “This food is going to make such a difference in the day-to-day wellbeing and health of our Dals. It will also be a significant factor in the recovery and potential adoption of many of the sick dogs in our care.”

Barbara Ratner said, “We and our store are all about the animals. It is sad that 501(c)(3) rescue groups rarely have the budget to provide a quality, holistic pet food for the animals in their care.” The Ratners and Post have pledged to establish an economic price point for Dalmatian Rescue, so they may continue to feed the dogs the wholesome products of LIFE4K9 – an oven-baked dog food and cannery company.

“Holistic Pet Cuisine Market and LIFE4K9 Pet Food’s significant contribution to rescue organizations, sets an important example for other pet-related and non-pet related community-minded companies,” added Foundation president Malinda Baronoff. “Dogs are an important part of our community who cannot advocate on behalf of themselves. They need caring individuals like the Ratners, Will Post and their companies to ‘be their best friend’.”
